The native range of this species is Panama to Colombia. It is a tuberous geophyte and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome. It is has environmental uses and for food.

Foilage development
Leaves are large, thin and leathery with entire leaf margin (0.45 m long). The leaf stalk is brownish and either erect or slightly curved (0.3 - 0.6 m)

A species of plant in the family Araceae. Also called Angel's Wing, Indian Kale, Spoon Flower. It is a tuberous plant which means the leaves may die back and it will go dormant when temperature is low. Once the plant has died back, save the tubers and put them in a bag to replant when it warms up again or you can leave them in the soil.
